Financed by the Fifth Program Frame for the Research of the European Commission, and more specifically from the program IST, DI@S.net is a project of demonstration of convergence of technologies, marketable services, tools of information technology and communications, aiming at the effective correspondence as much in the present but also in future needs and peculiarities of European islands.
The goals of the project were the following:
- The facilitation of local society (SME, enterprising institutions, public institutions, citizens, etc) of islander and the least developed regions of Europe in their course towards the era of Information Society.
- The promotion of cutting-edge technologies for their wider adoption by the regions, with the growth of pilot applications and flamboyant work adapted in the local needs.
- The exploitation of results of European research and innovation of last years.
- The entanglement and activation of “regulating” local institutions, that shape policy and have the possibility of investing additional resources (3rd Community Support Framework) for completed growth.
